SANITIZERS:
CHLORINE
Due to the difference in water temperature and holding capacity, spas and pools use different forms of chlorine. The active ingredient in pool chlorine is TRI-CHLOR while the active ingredient in spa chlorine is DI-CHLOR. We recommend: Leisure Time Spa 56 Chlorine

BROMINE
Bromine tablets are another form of sanitation used in spas. Often used because they are less potent then chlorine, bromine dissolve over time in a floating dispenser. We recommend: Leisure Time Brom Tabs

OZONE
No matter what you have heard, ozonators cannot sanitize your water alone; they need help with low doses of chlorine or bromine.

CHEMICAL FREE MINERAL PURIFIERS
Mineral purifiers, like Nature2 and Spa Frog, sanitize your water while allowing you to maintain a chlorine or bromine level of 0.5ppm versus 3ppm. These mineral purifiers slide into your spa’s filter, activate oxygen to kill viruses, bacteria, and algae, then, release small amounts of algae static and bactericidal minerals to help prevent growth. WE RECOMMEND: Nature2 Spa Mineral Sanitizer, Spa Frog Mineral Sanitizer. We recommend: Nature2 Spa Mineral Sanitizer, Spa Frog Mineral Sanitizer

TESTING YOUR SPA'S WATER
Although there are different test strips for different sanitizers, they typically measure A) free available sanitizer, B) pH level, and C) alkalinity. Test strips are easy to use; once you hold the strip in water for a specific amount of time all you have to do is compare the color of your strip to the colors listed on the chart.

For chlorine, cyanuric acid, pH balance, and alkalinity: we recommend: AquaChek Yellow Spa Test Strips
For Bromine, pH balance, alkalinity, and total hardness: we recommend: AquaChek Red Spa Test Strips

CHANGING YOUR SPA'S WATER
Change your spa’s water every 3-4 months!

SHOCK AGENTS
Sanitizers do not break down tough compounds like lotions and oils, to break these down you need an oxidizer. Shocking agents are oxidizers that will break down kill bacteria in the water. We recommend: Leisure Time Renew.

pH and ALKALINITY
pH should be maintained between 7.2 and 7.8. If the pH drops below 7.2 your spa’s water becomes too acidic and may damage parts of the spa. Similarly, the pH rises above 7.8 your spa’s water becomes to basic which could stain your spa’s surface. We recommend: Leisure Time Spa Up, Leisure Time Spa Down

Alkalinity stabilizes pH, if the alkalinity is off it is easier for the pH level to drop below 7.2 or rise above 7.8., We recommend: Leisure Time Spa Alkalinity Increaser).

CALCIUM HARDNESS
Like other elementals, improper calcium levels can mess up your spa's equipment. If the calcium level is too high, it can be brought down with regular use of Leisure Time Defender.

CLARIFIERS, FLOCK AGENTS and DEFENSE PRODUCTS
For crystal clear blue water and to protect against agents that get trapped in your filter. We recommend: Leisure Time Bright and Clear Leisure Time Bright and Clear.

To control the amount of foam your spa in your spa’s water. We recommend: Leisure Time Foam Down.

FILTER CLEANING
We recommend: Leisure Time Spa Instant Cartridge Clean
